A Biography of An Artist

Lanie Geldert is an architect and interior designer who, after 28 years working for architectural companies in the U.S.A., moved to the Costa Blanca and decided to focus on painting impressionistic land and seascapes.

Originally, from Laguna Beach, California, Lanie moved to Altea in 2016. Her paintings are inspired by life and career experiences, plus surrounding natural beauty. She is particularly drawn to the calas and playas of the Costa Blanca and its interaction with people who visit and live there. Her paintings are described as vibrant in colour, interpretive in style with bold compositions.

“My love and appreciation of the beauty of our Mediterranean coastline is the subject of this series of paintings. It is an incredible natural wonder of cerulean coves, white beaches, pines and palm trees.

“When I was growing up in Laguna Beach, California, the seaside was the epicenter of our childhood existence. My body of work is stimulated by those wonderful memories wrapped in the glorious skies of summer, and of the children laughing and playing in the surf. I follow the philosophy of painting with passion, reaching into myself and communicating the essential qualities of the subject.”

Lanie exhibits in galleries along the Costa Blanca as well as in the U.S. and On-line.

Her forthcoming exhibition is entitled ‘Cielos and Playas’, which is organised by the Casa de Cultura. Calpe.

It will take place on 2-28 February, 2023, at the Sala de Exposiciones in the Ajuntament Vell de Calp building located on C/. Francisco Zaragosa, 2, in the Historic Centre of Calpe.
