Community Arts Updates - March 2021
15 Mar 2021
Prior to the first lockdown in March 2020, The Arts Society Chester had already allocated funding to two local organisations.
The Boaty Theatre Company, based in Ellesmere Port was seeking funding to continue providing acting and drama classes for local vulnerable and disadvantaged young people with a view to staging productions. They have continued through the pandemic with online engagement and hope to pick up where they left off once life returns to normal.
The Hive, based in the Wesley Church Centre received funding to buy looms and wool for activities involving people suffering from dementia.
Whilst fundraising for Community Arts projects through the monthly raffles held on lecture days has been paused, there were sufficient funds remaining to support two further projects:
Friends of the Countess of Chester Country Park have received £500 to create a willow pig sculpture for the park.
No. 71 Spider Project, which supports people struggling with emotional and physical distress, has a £500 grant which will be used to create a mural in the Cafe space.
