Community Grants: The Arts Society Brentwood District support Ingatestone Museum
2 Jan 2024
With a Community Grant, The Arts Society Brentwood District have been able to support the opening of the Ingatestone Museum.
The Ingatestone Museum Trust is setting up a museum in a former railway signalman’s cottage to show the development of the villages of Ingatestone and Fryerning including the impact of the railway in the 19th century. There will be an emphasis on links to the community and education, with opportunities for local schools to visit and produce work linked to local history.
The museum (due to open in 2024) will show the development of the villages of Ingatestone and Fryerning over time, from the pre-Roman period, through the stagecoach and railway eras to the present day. Changing displays will link to local schools curricula and there will be an archive of of memories of former parish residents. There will also be changing displays of art and photographic work from local schools and societies. The contribution from The Arts Society Brentwood District will be used to provide equipment for picture hanging and also to purchase archive grade storage for documents and photos.
