We very much enjoyed welcoming members to Bristol where we celebrated the organisation's resilience, the dedication of our volunteers and looked ahead to the future.
Bristol - with its artistic credentials and multi-faceted heritage is a wonderful city in which to celebrate arts and heritage.
Bristol has long been a centre for arts and creativity. From Cary Grant to Banksy, from Ellen Sharples to Damien Hirst, from Portishead to sculptor Nigel Hall, Bristol has produced and played home to many creatives who have helped shape British art and culture. In recent years, Bristol’s history and heritage has been at the forefront of many important discussions around art, history and the stories we tell about them.
Want to see what the West Mercia Area has to offer?
Well look no further than the 50 Treasures of West Mercia Book. The twenty member Societies of the West Mercia Area have joined together to produce this collection of much loved artistic objects and places across the Area. Arts Society members were invited to send in their suggestions for inclusion in the guide, the ninth to be published in England and Wales by The Arts Society.
Produced mainly in the pandemic, this book is the result of the help and enthusiasm of West Mercia Area’s members. Why not plan to visit some of these when you attend the Conference and AGM in Bristol in May?
The book is illustrated with colour images throughout and includes up to date information to plan a visit – including area maps, access arrangements, websites, and contact details. It is available from The Arts Society and costs £7, including postage and packing. To order a copy please email Diana on denutting01@gmail.com.
