September Tour to Suffolk
September Tour to Suffolk
12 Oct 2018
In September a group of 21 of our members had a very successful 4-day visit to Suffolk and the surrounding area. On the journey down the group had a specially arranged tour of Island Hall Godmanchester, built in 1749. The following days included visits to Ickworth House, a National Trust property with an amazing collection of Huguenot silver, and a visit to the beautiful Beth Chatto gardens near Colchester. The visits continued with a tour of Melford Hall in Long Melford, where we discovered Beatrix Potter’s connection with the Hall and saw many of her drawings.
On the final day the group visited Oxburgh Hall, a medieval moated property still lived in today by descendants of the original owners..
Fantastic weather accompanied us on each visit so that we were able to enjoy the wonderful gardens and walks surrounding each of the properties.
