23 members and friends of our society enjoyed wonderful weather on their 5-day holiday, based outside Bristol, but experiencing so much more of this lovely area. First stop on the way to Bristol was the National Memorial Arboretum where we all appreciated the ride on the land-train to show us the memorials set out over such a large and attractive landscape. Once we were at the hotel, we had visits to the National Trust’s Tyntesfield and the lovely city of Wells. Accompanied by a Blue-Badge guide we also visited Bath and Bristol, including the Clifton Suspension Bridge and Brunel’s SS Great Britain. It was almost too hot on our way home when we stopped off for a guided tour of the gardens of Highgrove House, but the guide found some welcome shady spots for us and the garden was looking beautiful. The coach, hotel and meals were excellent and, I think I can speak for everyone when I say, we all enjoyed each other’s company and a really great holiday .
