TAS Bath Evening Sponsors the First Prize at Bath Open Arts Prize
18 Dec 2022
TAS Bath Evening were approached by the organisers of Bath Open Art Prize to see if we would like to be sponsors of the event. This seemed an excellent way to sign off our sponsorship of the arts in Bath as we sadly closed the TAS Bath Evening Society. We applied for a £250 Community Grant from The Arts Society and then used £250 of our reserves to offer the sponsorship of the first Prize of the Bah Arts Open Prize 2022.
The Bath Open Prize is celebrating its 10th year and fast becoming one of the South West’s key art events, and organised by Fringe Arts Bath, the Bath Open Art Prize is open to all Artists working in all media and all genres.
67 Artists were chosen to exhibit in a group show selected by the 2022 judges Gracie Divall, Curator, and Roger Clarke, Artist.
Susan Davies and Gillian Chapel, committee members of TAS Bath Evening, were invited to the Preview of the exhibition in 44AD, a successful local art gallery, and enjoyed the huge variety of work on display. Paintings, installations, sculpture, prints from Bath and the South West, different areas across Britain and abroad demonstrated the reach the Open Prize now has.
Susan Davies represented The Arts Society Bath Evening and the winner of the first prize of £500 was Sarah-May Rodgers
Her work was an amazing delicate concoction of porcelain sculptures. One was displayed in a perplex box. The other two in ornamental glass domes.
This funding enabled Bath Open prize to present the first prize this year and for TAS Bath Evening to complete their society journey with a good donation to a local arts organisation.
