TAS Driffield Wolds' visit to Boynton Hall
TAS Driffield Wolds' visit to Boynton Hall
2 Nov 2022
A fully-subscribed visit to Boynton Hall outside Bridlington took place on 26th October.
Originally constructed in the 16th Century, the house has been remodelled several times, by Lord Burlington, William Kent and John Carr and now stands as a three storey building with a seven-bay frontage. It passed through several generations of the Strickland family until it was sold in the 1950's to a developer who turned it into flats.
Our group enjoyed a comprehensive tour of the house and grounds by the lady of the house Mrs Sally Marriot. She and her husband purchased the hall in the 1980's and undertook a sympathetic restoration back to its former glory as a fine family residence.
