29 Nov 2023
20 members and guests gathered on 29th November at York Minster for a guided tour by our own Fran Gaskell. We were very lucky to have such a knowledgeable, erudite and engaging guide. We had a brief introduction to the history of the site and then a brisk walk around a few of the many highlights, hearing about disastrous collapses, depredations, arson and lightning strikes along the way. Keeping up with repairs and restoration is a continuous struggle.
The tour was over all too quickly and all who took part agreed that we had been given a fresh look at a familiar site and we thank Fran for it.
