Welwyn Garden City - Past, Present and Future

Local historian Geoffrey Hollis gave an interesting illustrated talk about the origins of the garden city to members of The Welwyn Garden Arts Society in October last year. It was well attended and as there was a waiting list he kindly agreed to give his talk again, in January this year, once more to a packed room and an appreciative audience.
Tracing the history of Welwyn Garden City, Geoffrey was an informative and knowledgeable speaker. At times there was audience participation when a member recognised their road or even their house on one of the slides being shown. We learnt about some of the decisions behind town planning and where the best places for buildings such as the library should be situated.
Many thanks to Geoffrey for his time and effort in putting this talk together for us.
